Why join an incubator?
Most founders don't fail because their idea was bad. They fail because they ran out of time, money, or the right advice at the right moment. An incubator changes the odds.
At Akcela, we help move founders from early idea through to MVP and launch, faster. We've started, scaled, and sold companies ourselves. We know what the journey looks like because we've walked it.
This isn't generic business coaching. This is structured startup incubation with people who've done it before, built around your specific company and your specific challenges.
What's the deal?
A city-centre workspace at Fuel Studios, Pottergate, Norwich. No rent, no commitment fees. Just turn up and build.
Regular working sessions with the Akcela team. Not check-ins, actual working sessions where we get stuck in alongside you.
Rigorous customer discovery and validation. We help you find the problem worth solving and the customers willing to pay for it.
Help finding co-founders, early hires, and advisers. The right team at the right time makes all the difference.
Investor narrative, pitch decks, due diligence readiness, and warm introductions to angels and VCs through our network.
Practical guidance on finding and winning your first customers. Not theory, tactics that work.
Nothing upfront. Akcela operates on an equity-for-services model. We take a small shareholding in your company in return for the full programme. That stake dilutes alongside incoming investment, so our interests are completely aligned with yours. The better you do, the better we do.
How it works
Get in touch or apply through our website. We’ll have an honest conversation about your idea, where you are, and whether incubation is right for you. No hard sell, just a straight answer.
Once you’re in, we work alongside you. Weekly sessions, access to our network, desk space in the city centre, and the full weight of the Akcela team behind your company. We move fast.
When you’re ready, product built, customers paying, investment secured, you graduate. But access to the Akcela community doesn’t end. Our portfolio founders stay connected, share deal flow, and support each other long after incubation.
Is this for me?
Akcela is industry-agnostic. We've incubated companies across EdTech, gaming, security, SaaS, and more. The common thread is that technology is central to how your business delivers value.
You don't need to be technical. You don't need a finished product. You don't need to have raised money. You need a credible idea, real motivation, and a willingness to do the work.
We're not looking for the next unicorn. We're looking for founders who are serious about building something real.
With deep industry knowledge and a product or service idea, looking for a structured path from concept to startup.
With breakthrough technology or IP, looking for commercial mentorship and a route to market.
With a validated concept, looking for business model guidance and a co-building team.
Your network
When you join Akcela, you join Norwich's startup community. Regular meetups, investor introductions, and a peer network of founders at every stage. We work closely with Anglia Capital Group, SyncNorwich, Tech East, and Connected Innovation to make sure you're plugged into the wider ecosystem from day one.
Our legal and accounting partners, Ashtons Legal and Lovewell Blake, can give you an early steer on company law, shareholder agreements, governance, and financial control.
Not ready for full incubation?
The Future Tech Programme is a funded, structured support initiative for early-stage tech founders across Norfolk and Suffolk. It's designed for founders who wouldn't otherwise have the resources to turn their idea into a real business.
Six months of structured support. Free desk space. Workshops on business models, IP, investment, and marketing. One-to-one guidance from the Akcela team. And warm introductions to investors when you're ready.
Delivered in partnership with Connected Innovation, Norfolk County Council, Suffolk County Council. To date, the programme has supported 79 businesses, delivered hundreds of hours of free support, and helped cohort members raise over £2.2 million in investment.
