They've moved past the demos and the hype, and they're quietly rebuilding the way they work: automating the repetitive, accelerating the complex, and figuring out where the limits actually are.

What is it?
Adventures in Automation is the first event in Akcela's summer series. It's an informal gathering for people who are actively experimenting with AI and automation tools in their professional lives, and who want to swap notes with others doing the same.
The evening is built around two things: short showcases and open conversation.
First, a handful of people from different fields will each take five to ten minutes to share something they've built, automated, or figured out. These won't be polished product pitches. They'll be honest accounts of what's working in practice, and what isn't.
Then, we'll break into smaller groups, probably organised around practice areas like sales and marketing, product development, and service operations, for a more open conversation about what's possible and where it's all heading.
There are no keynote speakers and no experts at the front of the room. It's a meetup, not a conference.
Who should come?
This event is aimed at professionals who've already moved beyond the basics:
- Freelancers
- Agency folk
- Startup teams
- Product and operations people
If you've started weaving AI tools into your routine workflow, and you're curious about what the people around you are building, this is the room to be in.
It won't have all the answers. But it might give you some better questions. And it'll definitely connect you with other curious people at different points on the same journey.
A bit about the format
Adventures in Automation is designed to be low-key and genuinely useful. Think of it as an evening for practitioners, by practitioners. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and the conversation is the main event.
